PM Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana: Transforming India’s Agricultural Landscape
The Government of India has launched the Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana (PMDDKY) a landmark initiative aimed at transforming agriculture in 100 underdeveloped districts across the country. Announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at IARI Pusa, New Delhi, the scheme carries an annual budget of ₹24,000 crore for six years starting FY 2025–26.
Unlike standalone schemes, PMDDKY works as a convergence model, bringing together 36 existing Central and State programs under one unified structure. The goal is to streamline implementation, eliminate overlaps, and ensure that benefits directly reach farmers on the ground.
The scheme focuses on sustainable and technology-led agriculture, covering key areas such as:
- Modern and climate-resilient farming practices
- Enhanced irrigation and water management
- Strengthening post-harvest and storage infrastructure
- Expanding agricultural credit and financial inclusion
- Promoting allied activities like fisheries, beekeeping, and animal husbandry
Every participating district will receive customized interventions based on local agro-climatic conditions and crop potential. A digital monitoring dashboard and district-level committees will ensure transparent progress tracking and effective coordination between the Centre, States, and local bodies.
By integrating knowledge, innovation, and field-level planning, PMDDKY aims to boost productivity, create rural livelihoods, and drive India’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat through a self-reliant, technology-driven farming ecosystem.
