BASF Xelora Fungicide

Description

Product Description

BASF Xelora Fungicide is a broad-spectrum fungicide that provides effective control of a wide range of diseases in a variety of crops. It is a dual-action fungicide, with both contact and systemic activity. This means that it can kill fungal spores that come into contact with the plant, as well as those that have already entered the plant.

Active Ingredients

  • Thiophanate Methyl is a benzimidazole fungicide that works by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, a component of the fungal cell membrane.
  • Pyraclostrobin is a strobilurin fungicide that works by inhibiting the mitochondrial electron transport chain, which is essential for energy production in the fungal cell.

Mode of Action

  • The mode of action of BASF Xelora fungicide is a combination of contact and systemic activity. The two active ingredients, Thiophanate Methyl and Pyraclostrobin, work in different ways to kill fungal spores and cells.
  • Thiophanate Methyl is a benzimidazole fungicide that works by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, a component of the fungal cell membrane. This disrupts the structure of the cell membrane, making it leaky and allowing essential nutrients to leak out. The fungus eventually dies from starvation.
  • Pyraclostrobin is a strobilurin fungicide that works by inhibiting the mitochondrial electron transport chain, which is essential for energy production in the fungal cell. This disrupts the energy production of the fungus, leading to its death.
